About

Anthony St. Pierre (b. Schenectady NY, 1956) earned a B.Mus. cum laude in composition from The Ohio State University and a M.Mus. in historical performance practices from Washington University.  He played the oboe with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Toronto) in the 1980s,  but has since focused on composition.

He has composed extensively for solo recorder and for his recorder ensemble. Over 125 works are available through the American Recorder Society. Art song has also been a significant pursuit. In 2007, Choirs Ontario awarded him a citation for his setting of Psalm 23. Recently he has undertaken to compose variations on La Folìa for a wide variety of ensembles and solo instruments. To date he has composed nearly two dozen sets. He contributed several unscored electro-acoustic creations that were presented around the world by the 60 X 60 project.

He invites you to listen to the selections on his website and to download his scores from the International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) or the American Recorder Society. He’d be happy to hear from anyone wishing to commission a score. Please see the Contact page.
